AFCON Group D/ Leone Stars squad off to Kinshasa today

Leone Stars of Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo will both be looking to get their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers off to a winning start on Wednesday evening at the Lubumbashi Stadium after the two nations lost their Group D opener to Ivory Coast and Cameroon respectively.

Sierra Leone head coach Johnny McKinstry now has an uphill task to force a result in Lubumbashi DR Congo second largest city.

Former Middlesbrough striker Kei Kamara benefitted from some generous defending to finish from close range against Ivory Coast – Leone Stars were handed a late first-half advantage, only for Seydou Doumbia to make an instant impact, coming off the bench to level matters from Serge Aurier’s 63rd-minute cross, before Gervinho perfect run to drilled home a low winner five minutes later.

Cameroon stunned neighbours and archrivals DR Congo 2-0 in away fixture at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi on Saturday in Group D’s opener of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group stage

Cameroon’s next tie is against Ivory Coast in Yaoundé as DR Congo travel to face Sierra Leone in DR Congo second largest city Lubumbashi – both ties listed for Wednesday night 10-septmeber 2014.
