The Sierra Leone’s Football Association (SLFA) has today said they have secured Yaoundé Cameroon to host their counterpart and Group D leaders the Indomitable Lions in the African Nations Cup qualifiers next month 11 October at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium at 15Hrs (local time).
Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, head of competitions of the SLFA told Football Sierra Leone “We have secured Yaoundé as our home venue for our next month 2015 qualifier,”
According to SLFA, the decision for Leone Stars to host Cameroon in Yaoundé is because DR Congo authorities were not reasonable when Sierra Leone host the DRC Leopards in their second qualifiers in Lubumbashi.
Cameroon will also host the Ebola affected Country Sierra Leone on 15 October few days after playing away to Leone Stars in Yaoundé.
It will be an interesting contest considering Cameroon recent impressive home form, they hammered the Ivory Coast 4-1 in their second qualifier in Yaoundé. Having put their disastrous World Cup campaign behind them to beat neighbours DR Congo Leopards in their opening group game.
The request was made after the Confederation of African football ruled out Sierra Leone hosting CAF competition matches because of the deadly outbreak in the country, and almost 2,800 people have died because of the Ebola virus across parts of West Africa with more than 560 deaths in Sierra Leone.
The present situation in the country forced them to move their previous home fixture against DR Congo to the Congolese second largest city Lubumbashi.
