Alhaji Kamara was the hero on his Major League Soccer debut accounting for DC United’s only goal against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday as they beat host 1-0 at Sporting Park Stadium.
The 2015 Allsvenskan winner was introduced in 85th for the first time since signing for DC United.
The Sierra Leone International scored the match-winner in the 86th minute after just a minute of his MLS debut.
“I saw the ball coming,” Kamara said. “I tried to nod the ball into the goal, but when we fight on the ball, then I saw the ball on the ground. I immediately reacted.”
A new start for the former IFK Norrkoping striker, who admitted few days ago, that he is much happier and ready to surpass the trauma of heart defect.
Kamara, 22, signed for the Major League Soccer side DC United two weeks ago after medical endorsement that he is ok to play football again.
The Leone Stars striker has already started showing why DC United must keep faith in his ability, the 5ft 11inched striker registered a stunning 16 goals in two years for the Swedish defending champions IFK Norrkoping.
