Confederation Cup: Eagles ready for ASO Chlef

The Public Relation Officer, Issmile Sesay reckons Kamboi Eagles shouldn’t fear their Algerian counterpart ASO Chlef ahead of their Confederation Cup tie.

The first leg of the two fixtures will take place at the 15,000 seater Mohamed Boumezrag Stadium in photo – in the city of Chlef with the return legs scheduled for a fortnight later.

The three times FA winners, Kamboi Eagles will travel to Algeria on Tuesday with a 30-man delegation with Royal Air Maroc.

“We looking forward to the challenge, no fear and we believe that if we can compete at this level despite all constraints, it will benefit the club in the future,” Ismile told

A tricky encounter awaits the Kenema based club, who are desperate to face the Algerian dark horses.

Saidu Kamara, A Kamboi Eagles boyhood fan now based in the Netherlands said, “The team display in the last FA cup competition that they wanted to compete and play in the continental big stage by beating East End Lions to the trophy.”

“It can only get better for the young players to experience what it means to be a Kamboi Eagles player, they got the town support and we wish them all the best,” Kamara added.

To facilitate all travelling arrangements the Football body (SLFA), contributed hundred-million Leones and seventy-five million Leones cash was donated by the FA Cup sponsors, LEOCEM.

Kamboi Eagles withdrew from the 1993 CAF Cup in the first round. And in 1986 they were disqualified from the Cup Winners Cup but participated 1982 in the same competition but they were eliminated in the first round.

The Algerian side is presently second from bottom in their domestic league
