Sierra Leone and Al Hilal defender David Simbo has hailed his side’s “great achievement” after they won the Sudanese Premier League title last Thursday by defeating their historical rival Al Merreikh and neighbours both clubs based in Omdurman.

The former Boden BK defender was very instrumental on match day helping his club to be champions.
“It’s a great achievement. It will be recognised as my first in Sudan. We have a great squad and Al Hilal is a big club and I’m proud to be part of this,” Simbo told Football Sierra Leone UK.
“We did everything right this season. We’ve had a busy schedule and we’ve come through.
Having said that, I was disappointed with the way we went out of the African Champions league, but we fight to the end in our league.”
The triumph marks Al Hilal’s eight title of the past ten seasons, and throughout its history has won the championship 28 times during the league’s 46 seasons – thus making it Sudan’s most successful Football team.
David Simbo 25, who last December signed a two-year agreement with the Sudanese club, is the first Sierra Leonean to win the Sudanese Premier League Championship in history.
