Debut for Colchester’s Sesay in revamped Sierra Leone squad


Newly appointed Sierra Leone coach Atto Mensah has selected Leicester City academy graduates (photo) Alie Sesay in his 20-man squad that will face Cameroon in their double headers in October for the Africa Nations Cup qualifier.

Colchester United defender Alie Sesay is on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season is expected to make his Sierra Leone debut in Yaoundé football Sierra Leone understands.

The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Foxes under-21 side, having captained them for a large part of this season and was in the squad that won the Development League Two North title.

Latest report has indicated to Football Sierra Leone that former Watford midfielder Al Hassan Bangura formerly of Forest green is also returning to the international duty.

He made his Leone Stars debut on 11 October in a 2010 Nations cup qualifier against Nigeria, Sierra Leone was defeated 4-1 at the Abuja Stadium.

John Kamara who plies his trade for PAS Lamia is also included in the squad for the October 11 and 15 respectively at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium at 15Hrs (local time) in Yaoundé.

Leone Stars are bottom of Group D and will be going out to secure their first points in the qualifiers.
