The win sees Sudan top Group I with three points ahead of joint second placed Cote d’Ivoire and Gabon who played to a 0-0 draw in the group’s other match on Sunday.

It was a rather dull opening first half with very few chances in front of goal, but Sierra Leone defender Mohamed Kamanor was the first to put the ball back of the net from an offside.

Sudan standing tall continued to press forward, Leone Stars defense cancelled out all threats until the 76min when the host was awarded a penalty.
After the goal, Sudan was the better side they end the tie very strong as well managed to keep Sierra Leone out.
