After two months on the sidelines through injury, Partick Thistle first choice right back defender Mustapha Dumbuya is back in training hoping to help his Firhill side to fight for top six Premiership spot with three games remaining.
The Sierra Leone international was not part of the Leone Stars double header against Gabon and has been absent from major Ladbrokes Scottish premiership ties for Patrick Thistle including games against Aberdeen and league leaders Celtic.
Now, having played almost half an hour in their 2-1 win over Hamilton before the international break, the 28-year-old hopes his return will reinforce his side in their remaining league games as they bid for top six slots.
Partick Thistle’s win against Hamilton moved them to within three points of sixth place
“I’m back training now, he said. “But still early days as I’m not ready to start just yet but let’s see what the manager says. I will do my best to help the team.” Dumbuya told footballsierraleone.net
The Sierra Leone right back has been on the sideline since January with an ankle injury prior to the Hamilton match.
Since moving to the Scottish club he has been a revelation. Dumbuya makes an immediate impact and was awarded McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for November 2015.
He becomes the first player to win more than one Player of the Month awards in a single season since Kallum Higginbotham won consecutive awards at the end of 2013/14.
