The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has dismissed the country’s most prominent football official Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay (in the photo) in a move that could spark another row.
The football body on Tuesday unanimously endorsed the dismissal of Mr Sesay from his role as Match Commissioner and from representing Sierra Leone in any other international football related activities.
The veteran football administrator who is also chairman of the Stakeholders Interim Executive Committee has been accused of representing Sierra Leone to officiate a CAF Champions League match in the capacity of a Match Commissioner between two teams namely; Maghreb Tetouan (Morocco) and Kano Pillars (Nigeria) on the 21st of March 2015.
According to the FA, Mr Sesay decision to travel without the knowledge or consent of football body (SLFA) is unacceptable.
“An immediate investigation into the matter has been initiated, with a confirmation from CAF confirming that Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay will not be selected by CAF in any future for any further assignments until further notice from the President of SLFA pending its executive committee decision for a replacement.
“As the SLFA prepares to proceed with one of its most high-profile international test of Integrity (match-fixing enquiry), such acts of impunity and lack of respect for authority and regulations governing the football association under which Alhaji Sesay falls, will no longer be accommodated by the SLFA from any member, staff, stakeholder or appointed official of the SLFA,” The FA said in a statement.
The much talked about SLFA Congress is billed for April 17 and 18 2015.
