Manager Marko Nikolic is set to hand Sierra Leone international Gibrilla Wobay his debut against FC Koper this weekend in the Slovenian top flight (Prva Liga) round 23 in front of the home fans.
Wobay, 31, will wear No 11 jersey for the Slovenia league leaders and was signed on a year-and-half contract until May 30, 2017.
The former Neftci winger is one of the club’s experienced performers in recent international friendlies and that is why manager Nikolic was delighted about adding him to his squad.
Wobay was part of the Dragon training camp in Croatia and made several appearances including a goalless draw against Russian side Terek Groznyi after they were defeated 2-0 by Slovakia top flight side MSK Zilina.
During his unveiling conference on Monday this week, the Dragon manager Nikolic presented Julius Wobay and Miroslav Radovic before reiterated the club’s objective of the season ‘is to win the Slovenia title’ for the first time in the club’s history.
“Wobay is a footballer with extensive international experience and a wealth of football knowledge, I’m sure about his qualities,” Nikolic told club’s website.
Wobay while addressing journalist he said, “When we talk about our wishes, they always associated with laurels; Olimpija Ljubljana city deserves a title after 20 years.
“Sunday’s match will be my first, but have gone through a large number of intensive training and am fully ready if selected.”
The attacking midfield started his career at EE Lions and has had previous spells with Onisilos Sotira where he played 12 matches and scored three goals, Nea Salamis Famagusta FC, Universitatea Craiova in Romania, Aris Limassol, Khazar Lankaran & Al-Masry in Egypt.
