Major boost for Sierra Leone in today’s Aug 14, 2014 FIFA’s Coca Cola ranking moving 14th places up making the World’s top 50 teams and 7th in Africa. Sierra Leone drop to 64th with 469 points and was also out of Africa’s top ten countries in last month July ranking table.
However, this is their highest ranking ever in Sierra Leone history. Leone Stars amassed a total of 533 points 64 points more than their previous 469 accumulated in July.
In 1996 Sierra Leone ranked 51st in the World and 9th in Africa, the lowest was 172 September 2007. Recent results, with victory against Swaziland and Seychelles have put Sierra Leone in a positive position in the World’s global table.
Sierra Leone can keep their progress in the world’s ranking if they can reach the finals of the African Nations Cup 2015 in Morocco by dislodging one of the two giant nations in Africa the Lions of Cameroon or the Elephants of Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, the Germans are still topping the World table, followed by Argentina and the Netherlands. While in Africa, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt are Africa’s top five.
