Guinea Bissau withdraw from Sierra Leone Olympic qualifier

Sierra Leone will face Cameroon in the next stage of the 2016 Olympic Games after the withdrawal of Guinea-Bissau ahead of this weekend’s confrontation.

The Caf U23 Championship will take place from 28 November – 12 December 2015 in Senegal after the withdrawal of DR Congo as host.

“They are preparing for Cameroon following the withdrawal of Guinea-Bissau early this week,” Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) head of competition Sorie Ibrahim Sesay told

There were initial concerns that both legs will be played in Guinea-Bissau as a result of CAF’s moratorium on football in Ebola-hit countries.

Meanwhile, Guinea-Bissau and Libya have withdrawn from the competition which leaves us with three matches in the first round.

Third round winners qualify with hosts Senegal and the best three finishers qualifies for 2106 Olympics in Brazil.

Weekend matches:

Friday, 24 April 2015 Botswana vs Kenya

Saturday, 25 April 2015 Rwanda vs Somalia

Sunday, 26 April 2015 Ghana vs Liberia
