Hereford FC have released Sierra Leone striker Mustapha Bundu due to not being eligible to play in Southern League South & West due to visa restrictions.
Hereford have confirmed that the Sierra Leonean will not be at the club next season because he will not be allowed to play higher than step five of the non-league pyramid due to work permit issues.
The 19-year-old striker, in May, joined a list of players with Sierra Leonean origin to play in a Cup final at England’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
The youngster who is unavailable to comment on his future was part of the Hereford sides that lost the FA Vase final at the home of English football Wembley to the Highwaymen’s 4-1.
He came to England through the Craig Bellamy Foundation and has since gone on to prosper with Hartpury College, where a number of Football League clubs are continuing to assess his performances.
“Last season’s success was down to the whole squad, and I’d like to thank every player for their efforts. I’m sure every fan will join me in wishing all those that are moving on the very best of luck for the future.” the Hereford manager Pete Beadle told club’s website.
The Hartpury College in Gloucestershire played a pivotal role as the club won promotion at the first attempt.
He has been exceptional for Hereford FC. He was born in Freetown and in 2010 was one of the talents from the Craig Bellamy Foundation in Sierra Leone, a charity which offers underprivileged children in Sierra Leone the chance to realise their potential through football and education.
Bundu’s talent was recognised in the UK a year later he was invited to train with Cardiff City’s U15s squad and also had summer spells at Liverpool and Manchester City.
