It’s a Welcome Relief, Says Al-Sankoh Conteh


Immediate Deputy Sports Minister Al-Sankoh Al-Conteh (Pictured) yesterday described the removal of his former boss Paul Kamara as “welcome relief”.

Al Conteh who will be teaming up with the newly appointed Sports Minister Ahmed Khanou subject to the Parliament approval was unconcerned and said he was not shocked by the announcement and vow to do all in his power to remodel sports in Sierra Leone.

Ahmed Khanou was the former deputy minister of Lands and was also the former secretary-general of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association.

“The appointment of Ahmed Khanou is fine and a welcome relief, he will definitely bring new dynamism and stability in the sports Ministry. Al Conteh told

“We shall transform and remodel sports in Sierra Leone; unity in the sports will be regained and maintained.

“My first task as acting Minister of Sports is to ensure that the Leone Stars matches are played free of the cost at the Siaka Steven Stadium and the Ministry of Sports and the SLFA will collaborate to run our international football matches in the interest of Sports and National development.”

“I will give him all my support as he had been a brother of whom we shared similar values and character of selfless service.

In a wide-ranging government reshuffle, Paul Kamara was one of the nine changes made by the Sierra Leone President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma on Sunday March 13, 2016.
