McKinstry said his team will bring some good news to Sierra Leone by qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations. Football Sierra Leone understands McKinstry, 29, will cajole from the touchline as he bid to surpass all odds taking on the Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

Any positive result would set Sierra Leone off and running for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group that also includes Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ivory Coast (ranked second in Africa), against Sierra Leone (seventh) is one of two top-10 matchday 1 clashes.

“We are aware of the challenge and we’re ready to go to war. The team has prepared well and will give the best and get the result later today (Saturday).

Obviously it will be a difficult game like any previous game. We are well aware that Ivory Coast is one of the top teams in Africa, but we’ve committed to bringing something positive.

The squad is resolute and they believe that we have the quality required to qualify for AFCON 2015. The road ahead is challenging, however for any new team to break into the elite group of teams, you must first dislodge one of those already there.” McKinstry strong words to FSL.

Sierra Leone have never defeats Ivory Coast and the Ivoirians have scored eight times in five meeting most notable 4-0 win in the African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia 94.

The Felix Houphouet-Boigny stadium is hosting the contest and it is speculated that BEINSPORT will broadcast the match live 1800hrs UK time.
