Sierra Leone midfielder, Khalifa Jabbie Turkish side Balıkesirspor have been relegated from the Süper Lig with two games left to play after a poor season.
The team, based in the city of Balikesir, won just six games all season, 18 defeats and 8 draws and after 32 games it is now mathematically impossible for them to claw their way to safety.
Their relegation was confirmed last weekend despite their 4-2 victory against Karabükspor at home on Saturday, unfortunately, the victory was not enough to stay at the Super Lig division.
Jabbie signed a two and half year deal on 19 December 2013 to play in the TFF first-tier league. The former Fredrikstad FK central midfielder was very instrumental last season for Balıkesirspor when they gained promotion last season.
Balikesirspor was the only side promoted at the start of the season out of the clubs that have been relegated.
Jabbie, 22, Jabbie has been on the sidelines for almost four months and still struggling with the same shoulder injury that kept him out of Sierra Leone matches against Ivory Coast and DR Congo Leopards in the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers.
The 22-year old central midfielder few weeks back had told footballsierraleone.net, “I’m disappointed, but that is football. Am happy with the experience, but with the team not doing well it doesn’t look so good.
“We’ve had a change in our squad from the squad that qualified the team to the top flight; the chemistry is not there which makes it hard.”
Balıkesirspor will be away to Trabzonspor at the weekend in a bid to restore pride, They are third from bottom, even if they are to win their next two matches will not be any good.
