Leone Stars suffer jet lag for rumble in the jungle

Reports are coming in that a jet-lagged Sierra Leone squad are currently held up at the Kinshasa international airport after an excruciating 14-hour wait time in Casablanca and 7 hours flight to Kinshasa ahead of their schedule home tie against Congo Democratic Republic.

This is the latest ordeal for the Leone Stars who moved their home games to Lubumbashi after the African governing body; Caf had ordered them to play at a different venue due to fears over the spread of the Ebola virus which is affecting the country.

After narrowly losing to 2014 World Cup representatives Ivory Coast 2-1 in Abidjan, the squad travelled and transited in Morocco for a combined 14-hours and 48 hours after the game the players are still on the move which could undoubtedly affect their next match against Congo DR, who are effectively also playing at home.

Lubumbashi is the second largest city of Congo DR, Leone Stars of Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo will both be looking to get their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers off to a winning start on Wednesday evening at the Lubumbashi Stadium after the two nations lost their Group D opener to Ivory Coast and Cameroon respectively.

More details as we get them.
