Kaikai humbled to win United player of the year



Crystal on loan striker Sullay Kaikai was humbled to learn he was named Cambridge United Young Player of the Year.

Kaikai, 19, was the favourite to take home the prize after his excellent form for league two side scoring 5 goals and adding two assists.

Kaikai said of his award success on twitter: “Thank you to all the staff, players and fans for voting me Young Player of the year @CambridgeUtdFC wonderful achievement and I’m so grateful.”

Kaikai whose parent from Sierra Leone has been a revelation at Cambridge since arriving on loan on 27 November 2014, Kaikai joined League Two club Cambridge United, on loan until 3 January 2015.

The young star scored his first professional goal, in the second round of FA Cup replay, in a 1-0 win over Mansfield Town.

On 16 January 2015, Kaikai’s loan was extended until the end of the season and already returned to Palace in the first week of May 2015.

In 2013, Kaikai won the League Football Education Goal of the Season award.

At age, 17 the attacker won the prize for his superb solo goal against Liverpool, back in August 2012.
