Crystal Palace on-loan striker Sullay Kaikai (In Photo) scored twice as Cambridge United beat Mansfield Town 3-1 at home on Saturday.
Kaikai was named Man of the Match for his efforts. The 19-year-old first goal came after just three minutes when his 40-yard free-kick broke the deadlock in the opening stages. He added a second with his left foot, from the edge of the box, on 43 minutes, as the U’s cruised to victory at Abbey Stadium.
According to Cambridge news, Kaikai revealed he love scoring but was aiming – to hit a hat-trick. He only just failed to achieve it, but his brace guaranteed their Sky Bet League Two survival.
“It was always my aim – before the game I set out to score a hat-trick,” said Kaikai.
“It was just unfortunate not to get it, but there’s always the next game!
“The result was what mattered and we got that. I’m happy for the club and for what it meant for the fans.
“It was a good team performance. We moved the ball well and created a lot of chances, so I think we deserved the result.”
Cambridge United will be away to Oxford on Saturday in another Sky Bet League Two tough contest in the race for survival.
