Columbus Crew striker Kei Kamara continues to prove his doubters wrong after scoring the opening goal in Columbus Crew’s 2-2 draw with New York City FC.
The MLS leading scorer recorded his 18th goal of the season in an exciting MLS contest in front of the home fans at their Mapfre stadium.
In the 24th minute, Kamara and Ethan Finlay combine as always for the match’s opening goal.
Before New York City’s exciting youngster, Kwadwo Poku came away with a brace.
The Black and Gold newcomer, 23-year-old Congolese international Cedrick Mabwati Gerard scored a late equalizer for his first goal in a Columbus shirt – in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
“We get too comfortable,” midfielder Ethan Finlay told mlssoccer.com.
“It’s happened too many times this year where we’ve been up in a game and all the sudden you look up at the scoreboard and you’re down 2-1 and you don’t even know how you’re there. We need to be able to put teams away, especially at home.”
The Crew will be away to Kei’s former team Sporting Kansas City next on Sunday the 24 August early hours.
They third behind DC United and New York City respectively with 35 points from 25 matches played.
