New England took the lead after 35 seconds before Columbus’s Kei Kamara registered his goal to cancelled New England lead.
First, Lee Nguyen put New England ahead within the first 35 seconds. That goal was cancelled out by Kamara inside four minutes.
Before the break, Kamara’s header was saved and Scott Caldwell’s effort was stopped by Columbus goalkeeper Steve Clark.
Five minutes after the restart Kamara netted his second from close range and was close to completing his hat-trick in the final 10 minutes.
