This season has been a rollercoaster for Columbus Crew’s leading scorer Kei Kamara, who recorded 22 goals along with eight assists and lead the Crew to second place in the Eastern Conference standings, Kamara nickname ‘the perfect fox in the box’ after scoring against all 21 MLS clubs this season.
The Sierra Leonean is one of the three nominees shortlisted by Major League Soccer on Tuesday for the 2015 Landon Donovan MVP awards.
However, the former Boro striker is facing a tough competition from Sporting Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber, and Toronto FC midfielder Sebastian Giovinco for the award.
Giovinco was named the winner of the Audi MLS Golden Boot having recorded more assists than Kamara, both tied on 22 goals.
The 6ft 3 is also in contention for the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year presented by Advocare.
Having lost the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinal playoff 2-1, Kamara told footballsierraleone.net that he is highly motivated to win big things ahead of this Sunday’s decider.
“The playoffs is huge. It’s the final season of the year. And you want to win it and not just make an appearance.
Kamara is also unfazed about Didier Drogba, he said. “Drogba is a great player and we have lots of respect for him, but we are more worried about Montreal Impact than just Drogba.”
“We are all staying positive and working on what have gotten us to this point. So we are ready for Sunday.”
