New England Revolution’s Kei Ansu Kamara (Pictured in celebration) made his debut in 2-0 win at home over Chicago Fire on Saturday night wearing his new No.13 shirt two days after being acquired in a trade from Columbus Crew.
Lee Nguyen opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Rookie Femi Hollinger-Janzen delivered the first goal of his professional career in the 84th minute to seal the win for the Revs.
The former Columbus hit man who played every minute in their big win over Fire told footballsierraleone.net: “I’m delighted and very much looking forward to this new adventure. I choose No.13 because the fans thought it’s the day I join the team.
“The Revolution has a great history and I am just happy to be here and be part of it.”
On his chemistry with his new teammates:
Kamara told club website: “It’s a bit different, but there’s some good players out there. To me, I really want to be able to connect with them on the field and [it] looks like we kind of understand each other a bit faster than I expected. It’s going to be a lot of work going into the training ground, but today was good.”
Kei Kamara recorded Revolution highest shots on his debut – six shots and four shots on goal.
Kamara, 31, has five goals with Columbus Crew SC in their opening nine games before his trade and was instrumental in his first match at their Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts in front of his new fans.
