MLS – Kei Kamara completed Columbus Crew first home win of the season in front of the watching home fans, scoring Crew’s second goal and his first of the season against Toronto FC in a 2-0 victory at the MAPFRE Stadium.
Very fresh since his returned to the MLS, last week Crews head Coach Gregg Berhalter told reporters that his side must create more chances for Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara because he ‘Kei’ is more deadly on the offensive.
That exactly what they did today, Kamara showed terrific energy when he made it 2-0 with a close-range half-volley off a feed from the left by Waylon Francis.
After Finley’s perfect cross helping Justin Meram in the middle of the box, Maram converted with his head beating Toronto’s stopper Joe Bendik for a 1-0 lead.
Kamara in his second stint with Columbus (Kamara’s first spell between 2006-07), bring back memories with his collection of goal celebration.
Kamara was chosen by Columbus Crew ninth overall at the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. He spent two seasons there, making 36 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
On Kei Kamara’s goal celebration
I didn’t see it, but I heard about it. That’s funny, that’s Kei. He has a big personality. It’s great and he’s made a big difference coming to this team with his personality and obviously the threat in the air and up top, and you see how defenders have to deal with him. He’s done a good job.
