Kei Kamara wins Sierra Leone Player of the Year award following stunning 2015 campaign


New England Revolution striker Kei Ansu Kamara (Pictured) is the winner of the Best Player of the Year following his outstanding 2015 campaign.

Kamara enjoyed a wonderful season with the 2015 Eastern Conference Major League Champions Columbus Crew SC – having scored 22 goals and was the joint league soccer last season.

The ceremony was anchored by Ade Daramy, who worked for the BBC for ten years, and popular MC and DJ in London, Clarence Davies alias ‘Free Style.’

The 31-year old former Kansas City and Middlesbrough striker also won maiden goal king award for scoring 26 goals in 2015, the highest number of goals netted by a Sierra Leonean player in that year.

This is his second Best Player of the Year as he won the first award introduced in 2012.

He got 60% of the vote cast by viewers of Sierra Leone to win the best player award beating Partick Thistle’s Mustapha Dumbuya by 39% to second place.

DC United’s Alhaji ‘Andriano’ Kamara formerly of Swedish champions IFK Norrkoping finished third with 10% of vote cast.
2013 player of the Umaru ‘Zaingalay’ Bangura came with fourth with 8% and China-based Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura finished fifth with 5%.
