It was a repeat of the MLS Cup final – Portland Timbers are the defending champions – they also defeat Columbus to won the title three months ago in Columbus.
Kamara’s best chance of the game came in the 20th minutes, he almost gave the visitors the lead but his attempted left footed shot from the left side of the box was side netting.
But, the beauty of the day was from his team mate – Columbus Crew SC’s Federico Higuain who wasted no time opening their campaign with a goal that may well be one of the goal of the season.
During the 68th minute of Sunday’s match against the Portland Timbers, Higuain unloaded a bicycle-kick goal off a brilliant first touch and volley.
The goal brought Columbus level, which was eventually wasted in the 2-1 Timbers win.
However, the Argentine Higuain had to be pleased with his over head strike.
Meanwhile, Kei Kamara was very greafful to Crew’s fans despite defeat after the match; he posted on his twitter account, “Salute to our travelling supporters. Things you guys do for us is amazing. #CrewSC #HeartShapedHands.”
Columbus Crew will host the Philadelphia Union on the 12th of March 2016.
