Lapuan Virkiä have handed Sierra Leone youngster Foday Fedi Conteh (Pictured) his first professional contract, the Finish third tier side have confirmed.

Conteh, 21, is widely considered to be one of Sierra Leone’s promising prospects. The young attacking midfielder has impressed since arriving in Finland.

“Foday Conteh aka ‘Fedi’ without a doubt is a talented young footballer that I personally got recommend to by a young coach in Freetown called Christian Barnes back in 2011.

“Technically gifted and although left footed could also use his right but what made him stand out was his discipline to training and his determination to play pro football in Europe.

“His dream and conviction inspired me and his journey has taken us from Chelsea Football academy, East End Lions before signing for Lapuan Virkia FC in Finland,” Player-manager Melvin Chalobah told

The former East End Lions player preferred position is on the left midfield but he can also operate on either flank and has been noted for his versatility.

Conteh is a Sierra Leonean who is yet to play for Sierra Leone on any international level but his native country has high hopes for him to do well in Finland.

In July last year, the 5 ft. 10 inch was very impressive during his trials playing for Norvalla FF against Virkia.
