East End Lions chairman Sanusie Kargbo in photo is incensed by the decision of the Sierra Leone football Association (SLFA) to ban the club for three years after failing to compete in this year’s African Champions League.
Chairman Kargbo (alias Buski) called the FA’s decision “stupid and draconian.”
Kargbo said the action was fake, baseless and totally not in place, adding that it was a deliberate action and a real witch-hunt by the FA President who has continued to create bad blood and division among stakeholders.
“We are no push-overs. East End Lions is a not only a great club but one of the oldest in Africa we will fight to last of our breath. It is unacceptable,” he charged.
He recounted when the FA approached them with their willingness to participate in the competition and the financial support they will provide.
He said, “The FA reneged on their promise and swallow their words as they failed to respond to us when we submitted our budget request.
Besides there is a national ban on football activities and it became virtually impossible for us to assemble our boys,”
When asked whether they registered for the said competition, he replied “We didn’t because the FA was insincere.”
Chairman Kargbo maintained that football brings peace, unity and development but Madam Isha-led executive, he stated emphatically, has only succeeded in bringing acrimony and disrepute into the game.
His club, he added is a just a mere victim of the circumstances adding that the action taken by the FA was done out of hate and malice.
“This is a humiliating decision taken against one of the most successful clubs in the country. Madam Isha is a novice in football.
How can only three people among nine executive members effect such a decision?” he queried.
“This is the first time in the history of this country we are having such problems and challenges in football because those at the helm of affairs are complete strangers and apprentices,” he noted.
Counting on their maladministration and wicked tendencies, Chairman Buski noted FA never congratulated them. No trophy or medals as champions.
“Madam Isha is running a three-man show with no clear intention to develop the game.
“She has to understand that we are spending our personal resources to promote the game despite the hurdles we are facing. They must think fast to reverse the decision,” he admonished the FA.
He called on the club’s supporters to exercise restraint.
