Mauritania coach confirms six changes for Sierra Leone

Les Mourabitone, French coach (pictured) Corentin Martins has made six changes to the side that lost 1-0 against Cameroon in their first leg encounter of the African Nations Cup qualifier as he prepares for Sierra Leone.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the first leg tie hosting Sierra Leone at their Olympic stadium in Nouakchott on Sunday, Martins said. “No, less than six players was replaced in view of their poor performances, either in the friendlies against Senegal and our defeat to Cameroon in the opening 2017 AFCON qualifier,”

The 45-year-old also unveils the 24 local natives who will be part of his plans on the road to Rwanda starting with Sierra Leone, among them are two new faces young Sidi Mokhtar of de la Concorde and Cheghrane from club side AS Tijikja.

The French man will be boost by the return of playmaker Tevragh-Zein, Deina Yacoub who seems to have stolen the show at the briefing.

“Yacoub Deina for me is the best No. 10 in the country,” He said.

Yacoub is a very experienced midfielder; he was in the Mauritania squad for CHAN 2014 in South Africa.

Gabon defeats Mauritania 4-2 in their last group D match and book a date with Libya in the quarter-finals of CHAN 2014.

Newcomers Mauritania, in CHAN 2014 continental competition, ended the bottom of the standing with three defeats.
