Partick Thistle first choice right back defender Mustapha Dumbuya is a major doubt for their next two crunch Ladbrokes Scottish premiership ties hosting Aberdeen today and league leaders Celtic on Saturday but he is hoping to come back stronger.
Dumbuya has missed six matches and is likely to sit out again tonight when they host the Dons. The Sierra Leone right back has been on the sideline since January with an ankle injury and still not certain about the date of his return.
The Firhill side has the best defensive record out with the top three and Dumbuya was part of their compact defence until his injury.
“Hopefully, I’ll be back soon to help the team, these things happen in football, you get injured and have to come back stronger.
“Nothing, I haven’t experienced before so can’t wait to be back training and try my best to get back with the team and help my teammates,” Dumbuya told footballsierraleone.net.
The Jags are present eight going into this match and on paper; they must avoid defeat to keep their hope alive of staying in the division.
They have only won three of their last six since February.
Dumbuya, 28, signed a contract extension in December with Partick Thistle which takes him up to May 2018.
Moving to the Scottish club has been a revelation for the former Notts County player. Dumbuya makes an immediate impact and was awarded McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for November 2015.
He becomes the first player to win more than one Player of the Month awards in a single season since Kallum Higginbotham won consecutive awards at the end of 2013/14.
