Petrojet knock out Mannah’s Sohag on penalties


Sierra Leone-born midfielder Abdul Sama Mannah (Pictured) in action was sent off with three minutes remaining on Wednesday as Sohag sporting club knocked out of the Egyptian FA on penalties.

The former Medeamaa Sporting club midfielder was sent off after a second booking in an evenly-fought contest that finished 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Neither side could find a goal in normal and extra time, but the Egyptian Petrol Company club side Petrojet won 4 -2 on penalties to progressed at the multi-purpose Fayoum Stadium.

Mannah who was optimistic about his side chances said, “We played a good match but we were defeated on penalties to a very difficult opponent.”

Sohag sporting club desire to ensure they reach the next round was something more than a grim battle against a top Premier side that tested to the very limit by the second division side.

They are presently sixth in the Egyptian 2nd division group 1 table – ninth points adrift from leaders Aluminium Naq Hammadi.
