Roda JC Kerkrade have completed the signing of Sierra Leone international defender Gibril Sankoh from Henan Jianye on a one-year deal.
Managing director Wim Collard believes Sankoh is the right man that will help to strengthen their back four.
Wim Collard told club websites, “We were looking for a defender with experience and are glad we Gibril can add to the selection.
“He knows the Dutch Eredivisie and we are confident that he fits his style of play at Roda JC.”
The 32-year-old successfully passed his medical examination on Tuesday and will be part of the club’s pre-season tour.
Sankoh made his international debut for Sierra Leone on 8 September 2012, at the age of 29, against Tunisia during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Leone Stars were just slightly eliminated and Sankoh got a red card in the second match against the same team on 13 October.
The 6ft 1in defender after five years with FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie, Sankoh left the club on 20 May 2010 and signed for FC Augsburg and has also had spells with De Kennemers and Stormvogels Telstar respectively.
