Two years ago the Sierra Leone midfielder Rodney Strasser was delighted with his move to Genoa from Italian rivals AC Milan.
However, since then things did not go as expected, Strasser, 25, one of Sierra Leone’s highly rated midfielders in now plying his trade with third division Italian side ASD Lupa Castelli Romani in the Pro League.
The midfielder born in 1990 completed another loan move earlier this month hoping he can revitalize his career before returning to parent club Genoa and the former AC Milan player is happy to help Lupa gain promotion.
“I chose the Wolf mainly because Marco Amelia to me is a true friend, almost a brother. We were together at Milan, and when he called me to ask me to come and help him in this new adventure I could not refuse,” Strasser told the club website on his first day in Rome.
“I had several offers to Serie B, but I decided to go down to the category and to come to Rome. Is my first and a new experience in the Pro League”
The versatile midfielder is set to make his fourth appearance on Sunday against SS Monopoli at home.
He was sold to Genoa by Milan because he had trouble penetrating the Associazione Calcio Milan core team. In five years, Strasser played only six times and scored one goal.
