Sellas Tetteh urges Sierra Leone fans to get behind team

Sierra Leone caretaker coach Sellas Tetteh has said he expects soccer fans to turn up and get behind the team on Tuesday in their friendly international hosting Malawi’s Flames.

Sierra Leone faces the Flames on Tuesday, at the Freetown National Stadium March 22 with key home based players keen to impress ahead of Gabon AFCON friendlies.

The Leone Stars Ghanaian technician Sellas Tetteh who guided Sierra Leone to a goalless draw against the reigning African Champions Ivory Coast September 6th, 2015 in Port Harcourt Nigeria will use this match to experiment his side ahead of Gabon double header.

Tetteh, 59 has named 12 foreign based and 9 home based players for the three encounters.

“We have prepared well for these matches despite several hiccups,” Tetteh said. “I’m sure the fans will be there in their numbers to give us the support to do well for the nation.

“The boys are in high spirit and highly motivated and I’m sure they will come out of these matches with their heads raised up,” coach Tetteh was quoted as saying.

This will be the third friendly meetings between Leone Stars and the Flames – both teams will use the encounter as dress rehearsal ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon and Guinea respectively.

The Flames defeated Leone Stars twice on the 6th and 9th July 1978 5-0 and 4-2 the same year respectively in International friendlies.

The Leone Stars upcoming matches against Gabon also slated to be played in Franceville on 25 March and in Freetown on the 28.
