Defeat for FC Lahti on Thursday completed a miserable start for Sierra Leone international midfielder Hassan Milla Sesay side in the Finnish Veikkausliiga.
They suffered a stinging 1 nil defeat to IFK Mariehamn in match-day three of the Finnish top flight.
FC Lahti beginning of the game was slow losing possession while the visitors IFK got to see more of the ball and their all-round passing game were good.
Sesay completed the entire duel but was not able to find any sort of motivation for his team to build from in midfield in front of their fans.
The former Port Authority midfielder was not able to emulate his scoring trick against IFK as he did against them in a cup tie in 2014.
FC Lahti have now failed to win in their opening 3 matches and sit seventh in the Veikkausliiga standings.
Head coach Toni Korkeakunnas was disappointed with his sides’ display and player’s attitude. He said, “They were mentally, but, above all, physically soft.”
“We fell short against a very good team. IFK was willing, fought second balls and won the top balls. We were mentally, but, above all, physically soft.
“Sure – IFK took virtually the entire duel; the game plan went tumbling to the ground from the start.”
