For Dunn High School of Los Olivos, they celebrate their first CIF championship in soccer since they won the division 6 title in 2006.
The Dunn boys’ soccer team topped rival Laguna Blanca 2-1 in the championship game on Friday night at San Marco high school.
Conteh impressively got Earwigs started helping teammate Rodney Michael scoring his goal in the 5th minute.
Earwigs took that 1-0 lead into halftime. second half, Sahid Conteh again was very precise with his decision after winning the ball.
Midway through the second half, Sahid beat the intended Owl receiver to the ball to found the net from about 15 yards out to the right side of the net for the Dunn’s second goal.
Laguna Blanca cut the deficit in half when Damien Nunez scored from point blank range with less than 20 minutes left in the game.
The Earwigs hold on the nerves after a late rally from the Owls after they scored with about 20 minutes to full time – PK tries to squeeze a shot past the Dunn goalie Shannon Carroll.
Meanwhile, Dunn earned its shot in the championship game with a 3-0 victory over Victorville University Prep on Tuesday in Los Olivos.
Whilst, Laguna Blanca earned its spot with a 2-1 overtime victory over Salton City West Shores also on Tuesday.
Dunn has a powerful foursome offensively, with junior Dennis Cole, sophomores Sahid Conteh and Peter Kargbo and freshman Rodney Michael.
Dunn has scored a total of 19 goals in its four playoff games.
All four came to Dunn from West African nation of Sierra Leone.
“Rodney is either Lebanese or Syrian,” said Geriak. “His family moved to Sierra Leone when he was a little kid.
