The Algerians have now qualified for the second edition of the 2015 CAF U-23 Championship football event slated for Senegal from November 28 to December 12, 2015, where an eight-team tournament will be held.

Sierra Leone National Under-23 Men’s Team was not able to rally and overturn the Algerians two-goal lead from the first leg in Blida last Sunday.

John Keister’s men have failed to qualify after playing to a goalless draw in the second leg third round encounter on Saturday at Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida, Algeria.

It was another disappointing end for Sierra Leone U23 team on which a lot was expected of them after eliminating Cameroon on away goal rule.

Not many clear-cut chances in the entire encounter, but the young Sierra Leone team was very aggressive throughout the encounter.

The Algerians under the technical guidance of Swiss manager Pierre-André Schϋrmann dominated play in the first leg.

Sierra Leone pays the price from their poor performance in the first cracker; they were a much better side against Cameroon in the second round qualifying matches in Yaoundé.

Sierra Leone play all of their home matches away due to the Ebola outbreak in the country.

The top three at this tournament will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics men’s football competition in Brazil.
