Atlanta Silverbacks Coach, Gary Smith has confirmed Sierra Leone International, Shaka Bangura will be available for selection for this weekend opener against Atlanta Georgia Southern University as the NASL 2015 season gets underway.
Bangura 29, who last month resigned for Atlanta Silverbacks offers a wealth of football experience.
During his college years, Bangura played with Atlanta FC in the National Premier Soccer League 2008.
Bangura in 2014 appeared in six matches with Atlanta scoring one goal and had one assist
“Shaka is a creative addition that I’m sure the fans will be excited to see in a Silverbacks shirt again this weekend and rest of the season,” Silverbacks head coach Gary Smith said. “He has a genuine desire and hunger that is reflected in how he trains and how he affects players around him.
Bangura is a prolific scorer registering 59 goals with 31 assists playing for Montreat College in North Carolina.
He signed his first professional contract out of college in 2010, becoming a member of the Puerto Rico Islanders in the NASL.
A year later he moved to the USL’s Richmond Kickers, where he netted eight goals and eight assists
