Sudan giant club Al Hilal Omdurman in photo have qualified for next stage of CAF Champions League after defeating Zanzibar’s KMKM 2-1 on aggregate.
Al Hilal’s Sierra Leone defender David Simbo says he’s “delighted” with his team’s performance and that they deserve to be in the next phase of the African Champions league despite defeat to KMKM.
He told www.footballsierraleone.net, “It was really important making it to the next stage even when we did not play well away, and I’m delighted we qualify.
“The biggest problem is scoring goals. And on this occasion we score more goals, our home victory sees us through.
‘KMKM’ face elimination despite winning 1-0 in Zanzibar hosting Al Hilal in the second leg of Orange CAF Champions League on Saturday February, 28 at the Amaan Stadium – their 1-nil victory was not enough to turn around the tie.
However, AL Hilal in the other hand scored in both halves of the first leg match through midfielder Nazar Hamid in the 27th minute and Burkina Faso international Boubacar Kébé accounted for the second goal in the 48th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 win.
Al-Hilal will face Big Bullets from Malawi, who qualified after eliminating Fomboni Club of the Comoros to reach the next round.
Meanwhile, Malawi champions Big Bullets survived a scare drawing 2-2 with visiting Fomboni Club on Saturday afternoon but managed to hold their nerves to qualify for the 2015 Caf Champions League first round.
