SLFA fails to hold Congress

The power struggle over the running of football in Sierra Leone has taken a turn for the worse after the FA’s Congress which was scheduled for today in Makeni was postponed unexpectedly. Photo: Minister Paul Kamara surrounded in Makeni.

The reasons for the postponement remain unclear, but understands that it will be reconvened in two months’ time.

In another twist, delegates who want to remove the FA executive from power called for the formation of an interim body, reports circulating in Makeni state.

Earlier, police presence was called as tension mounted between a section of delegates and police who were said to be chasing a car of interest to their investigation of another case, according to journalists present in Makeni. Photos of the police detail have circulated on some websites and on social media.

We are closely following the events in Makeni and will report the latest as we get more information.
