Sohag FC Abdul Eyes Olympic Team Call Up


* CAF U23 Championship – Congo-Kinshasa 2015 Qualifying

Egyptian side Sohag Sporting club and Sierra Leone’s attacking midfielder, Abdul Sama Mannah, in photo says playing for Sierra Leone will be an honour in the 2015 Olympic qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.

This will be a big step up and very exciting for the 21-year-old former Sierra Rangers player if selected.

Sierra Leone national Under 23 team presently preparing to compete against Guinea-Bissau in the 2016 Olympic qualifiers in Bissau slated for April 24, 2015.

”It will definitely be an honour to represent my country. I understand they are selecting players for the Under 23 team.

“I’ve waited for this opportunity for a very long time and I’m excited playing regular football in Egypt, also thrilled with the prospect of a national call up,”

“I have contacted the head of the technical team, John Keister – I hope to be considered,” Sama told

 “I feel good and I wanted to join up if possible, but that is up to the head coach to recognized my effort. I am happy  to be considered any time for national duty.”

  “I will bring a lot of speed to the squad. I am positive and direct and can bring flair. I will work hard on and off the  ball,” he added.

 Abdul Sama Mannan started my football career in the year 2001 playing with Sierra Rangers (papa jack) U-12, and  in the year 2004 he joined Boston FC a junior team in the Aberdeen road community.

 He won COFA 2007 best player Award, before moving Mount Zion FC 2008. Sama in 2009 signed for Medeamaa  Sporting club in Ghana helping them to qualify for 1st division 2012.

September 18, 2014 the versatile attacking player moved to Egypt to joined Sohag Sporting club.Meanwhile, Holders Gabon will however not participate until the final round of the qualifiers where they will face the test of Libya, Mauritania or Mali.

12 TEAMS SET FOR 1ST ROUND- precisely twelve teams will participate in the first round with Libya facing Mauritania, Ghana tackling Liberia, Zimbabwe coming up against Swaziland, Rwanda facing familiar foe Somali while Guinea-Bissau confronting Sierra Leone.

Uganda, Mali, Zambia, Congo Brazzaville, Sudan, Cameroon, South Africa and Tunisia have all give byes to the second round of the qualifiers.

Third round winners qualify with the hosts Democratic Republic of Congo for December 5-19 in 2015 finals where top three finishers earn a berth to represent the continent at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
