Sudan name 22-man squad ahead of Sierra Leone clash in Freetown

The head coach of the Falcons of Jediane, Mohamed Abdullah Mazda, has released the names of 22 players, who will report for the training camp ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Freetown against Sierra Leone slated for June 4, 2016.

Coach Mazda’s squad is dominated by players from Sudanese two giant football clubs Al Hilal and El Merriekh a total of 15 players called up between the two clubs.

Having defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 in Khartoum in the qualifiers opening match, Mazda’s is optimistic he can walk away with a win away from home.

El Merriekh’s Ramadan Agab pictured scored the Sudanese only goal back in June 2015 when the two sides meet in Khartoum.

Only the winner between Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Sudan will emerge from the group I and join Gabon to participate in the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men’s football championship of Africa organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

However, Sierra Leone ranked 118, 10 places above their visitors Sudan who are ranked 128 in the May 5, 2016, Fifa Global rankings.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone caretaker coach Sellas Tetteh has also named 13 foreign based players for the Sudan encounter.
