Sullay Kaikai lands SLF young player of the year award

Crystal Palace striker Sullay Kaikai has been named the Sierraleonefootball.com young player of the year.

The event that was held at the Luxurious Holiday Inn Hotel Coram Street, London on Saturday 19 September was also the fifth anniversary of Sierraleonefootball.com sponsored by Telecommunications Company based in the UK Globalkall.

Grand Chief Patron the Sierra Leone high commissioner to United Kingdom (UK) Edward Turay was in attendance among other dignitaries.

The 20-year-old, who completed his loan move on Friday 18 September 2015 to Shrewsbury Town, has enjoyed a superb breakthrough since scoring against Liverpool in May 2013.

“It is amazing. I’m a proud mother and also very proud of my husband who himself was a footballer, so you can see where Sullay gets it from his father, our family is a football family, Mrs Kaikai proudly stated on behalf of her son.

It is a very proud moment for me and my family – hopefully, the first of many to come,” Kaikai said via Skype video call.

He has gone from strength to strength in his development, Kaikai, who came through Crystal Palace’s youth ranks has already enjoyed loan spells at Crawley Town and Cambridge United.

Meanwhile, Greek based Sierra Leone international, John Kamara, 27, was also presented with 2014 best player award and was received by his cousin Bakarr Kamara

The former Tadamon Sour and Apollon Smyrni midfielder was voted Sierra Leone best player of the 2014 Year.
