Tetteh Bangura withdraws from Sierra Leone squad to face Gabon


Ibrahim Tetteh Bangura has pulled out of Sierra Leone’s match against Malawi and Gabon the Gais striker has confirmed.

TThe Former AIK striker who is presently in Turkey with his new side for preseason was expected to fly to Sierra Leone to be part of the Leone Stars side for next Friday’s March 25, encounter in Gabon and in Freetown three days later in this month’s Africa Cup of Nations ties.

Bangura, 26, who has recently signed a contract with Swedish Superettan side GAIS told footballsierraleone.net, “Yes I’m invited but, unfortunately, will not be able to travel due to travel permit clearance.

“I always wanted to be part of the national team, that’s my country I am always proud to be part of Leone Stars – always.

“My resident card is not yet available, we have applied but am going to get it in two weeks time,” Bangura explained.

Sierra Leone defender David Simbo who few days ago penned a one-year deal with newly-promoted Belarusian club FC Krumkachy will be travelling on Sunday from Minsk to Freetown.

National skipper Umaru Zaingallay Bangura will leave Minks on Monday to lead the squad out against Gabon.

Former Chelsea youngster Aziz Deen-Conteh also has been recalled to the Sierra Leone national.

Meanwhile, the official list of invited players will be out tomorrow Abubakarr Kamara of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has said.
