Nimba United the Mountaineers have added three Sierra Leoneans to their ranks in a bid to make a significant impact in this year’s s Continental competition.
The Liberian side will face their Cameroonian counterparts Union Club da Douala on the 14th February 2016 in Monrovia in the CAF Champions League.
The Sanniquellie based club three new acquisitions are – Lamin Janneh 24, from Rangers, Kamboi Eagles striker Amadu Barrie 25, and Victory Evangelistic FC Midfielder Foday Suma 21, on a year, loaned deal ahead of their campaign.
They were unveiled at the club Northern Star Stadium at Mount Barclay in front of a cross-section of fans and Board Members.
The executive officer of Nimba United Adolphus Dolo said he is happy to secure the service of the Sierra Leoneans as it was not easy for their clubs to release them.
“All three signings are talented players and am happy to say they can bring new dimension and skills of expertise into the club for both the Domestic league and the CAF Champions League,” Dolo told footballsierraleone.net.
“We now looking forward in doing better than what we did last year as we aim to retain the title again back-back and go as far as the final in the CAF Champions League.” he noted.
The Mountaineer has been one of Liberia’s most independent Premier Club as they have signed a total of 18 new players to the team ahead of the season.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues Lamin Janneh thanked the Nimba United board for giving them this opportunity to play for the club. Nothing they will do all in their power to play their best for the club. “We are here to play football and football we will play to the best of our ability, ” he said.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leoneans missed their league opener on Sunday 24th January as they host Fellow Sierra Leonean Mohamed Kamara Oilers FC due to a work permit.
