Sierra Leone international Gibrilla Wobay’s NK Olimpija was crowned Slovenian PrvaLiga champions following their 1-0 away victory to Rudar Velenje last Saturday for the first time in 20-years.
They are three points clear of their closest rival NK Maribor and Rodolfo Vanoli’s side even a defeat on Saturday in the final game of the season hosting NK Krka will not stop them lifting the title this weekend.
The former Universitatea Craiova attacking midfielder Wobay told footballsierraleone.net: “I and my team-mates have been fantastic. Every game we fight for each other. . . We deserve to be champions.”

Wobay, 31 signed for the Slovenian Champions on 29 January 2016 a one and a half year contract.
This is Wobay’s second League title; he won the Azerbaijan Premier League 2012–13 with Neftchi Baku and four trophies in total in his sixteen years professional playing career.
Since joining Olimpija he has made 12 appearances scoring twice to help his side to the season title.
Olimpija Ljubljana had won four Slovenian Championships, four Slovenian Cups and one Slovenian Supercup in the period between the country’s independence from Yugoslavia in 1991 until the club’s dissolution in 2004.
Olimpija Ljubljana was founded on 2 March 2005 as NK Bežigrad and only began participating in the Slovenian fifth tier during the 2005–06 seasons.
They have managed to achieve promotion in four successive seasons, reaching the top division for the first time in 2009, after winning the 2008–09 Slovenian Second League.
