Sierra Leone U23 skipper, Sorie Barrie says Algeria will be a tough contest and Sierra Leone must be ready for a battle if they are to reach the finals in Dakar, Senegal in December.

The undaunted young Sierra Leone squad under the supervision of John Keister and Abubakar Tostao face Algeria in the final round.

Barrie, the scorer of Sierra Leone’s only goal in Yaoundé, after Joseph Minala had put Cameroon ahead feels his side are now very inspired after eliminating a strong Cameroon side.

Barrie said: “I’m not going to stand here and say, we are going to win against Algeria.”

We’re not getting carried away. We have a chance, as long as everyone in the squad is fit and strong, we can go out there with the right mentality.

“Everyone can see the potential that we have, but it’s the same with Algeria even Cameroon.

“Against Cameroon it was somehow difficult and in the first half we were playing against the wind and playing against the wind is very difficult; you need extra focus and power to maintain in a the game like that”

“At least we tried our best to qualified to the next stage while playing away from home with no support and with all the situations surrounding our country.”

When asked if the U-23 team can qualify for Rio 2016, Barrie said, “Why not? By the grace of God we can qualify and even win the Rio 2016 Olympic gold medal, all we need now is the prayers and support from Sierra Leonean to always stand by us and we can deliver with such squad.

Sierra Leone was deem as outsiders, but a stoppage-time goal in Yaoundé to snatch a 1-1 draw see the 2000 Olympics champions crashed out on away goals after a goalless first leg last weekend.
