Côte d’Ivoire’s veteran Didier Zokora 33 has turned down the chance for a return to the Ivory Coast National side ahead of their Group D ties against Sierra Leone and Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifiers.
Zokora is Ivory Coast most capped player, but announced his retirement from international duty last September and has said he would not face Sierra Leone despite being named in the squad for the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifier for Sierra Leone on November 14 in Abidjan before hosting Cameroon five days later.
“To be honest, I will not be present with the Elephants, at least not on the field.
“It is time to allow young talents to emerge and take their chances in the national team.” Zokora wrote in a statement.
The Ivory Coast lost at home to the Democratic Republic of Congo in their last qualifier to drop to third in the standings.
