Zombo Morris’ Quevilly Rouen Métropole on the verge of promotion

Sierra Leone international Solomon Zombo Morris (In Photo) believes his team is ready to make the step up to the French Championnat National League which is the third tier of the French football system.

The Leone Stars stopper is hoping his side can finish the job with four matches remaining in the Championnat France Amateur (CFA), they need seven more points to secure promotion.

They are five points clear at the top notching 78 points from 26 matches and they face Wasquehal on Saturday.

Morris, 25, has made 11 appearances this season for the Le Petit-Quevilly based club that was founded in 1902.

Morris has been pleased with how his team have fared this season.

“We have done well and I hope we can finish the job in our next four remaining matches,” said Morris.

“Three years ago when I joined Union Spotif Quevilly before the club name was changed to Quevilly Rouen Métropole because of new sponsors, the management had a plan of getting us up to where we need to be.

“At the time, I had some good offers that I turned down because of the good relationship between me and the present coach Emmanuel Da Costa who called and asked me to join him to fight the challenge together which I accepted.

“If we do get promoted we will be able to attract more players and it will open up doors,” The Leone Stars first choice keeper told footballsierraleone.net.

The Club was also promoted to the Championnat National in the 2010–11 seasons after they dominated the CFA Group A.

In 2012, they reached the Coupe de France Final for the second time, beating Rennes 2–1 in the semi-finals (Laup scored in added time).

They lost 0–1 to Olympique Lyonnais in the final, which was held at the Stade de France on April 28, 2012.
