Sierra Leone midfielder Khalifa Jabbie pictured in FC Sheriff’s colours is “optimistic and excited” about the prospect of Champions League football following the second round qualifying opening draws of the 2016/17 campaign.

Jabbie’s FC Sherrif will start their campaign in the second qualifying round away to Hapoel Beer Sheva FC from Beer Sheva, Israel.

First leg match takes place on July 12/13 in Beer Sheva, second leg match is organised in Tiraspol on July 18/19.

The midfielder said: “I’m looking forward to making my Champions league debut and I’m excited – The matches against Beer Sheva will bring me a very good experience – I know we can play well if we prepare well for these two legs ties.”
“My teammates are also optimistic and excited about going to Israel next month, we hope to achieve the ultimate goal and get into the group stages.

“We played 1-1 in our first preseason game against FC Zimbru at home and our next preseason match is against Russian side Tom Tomsk at home again on the 2nd July 2016,” Jabbie, 23 told footballsierraleone.net

FC Sheriff won the 2015-16 Moldovan Divizia National title following a 1-0 victory away to Dacia Chisinau as they secured their spot in Europe’s elite club competition.

Since 2001, the club they have won the title thirteen times out of fifteen.

The 6 ft 2 inch who was a one-time captain of the Sierra Leone Under-20 national known as the Shooting Stars has won two major European titles since 2009.
